Robert J. Blyskal, Executive Chairman. Mr. Blyskal was a member of the management team responsible for the early development of Federal Express, serving in increasingly responsible East & West Coast positions, including Managing Director for the Pacific and Northwest in Seattle, WA and Los Angeles, California. He was subsequently Sr. Vice – President of Purolator Courier LTD., Ontario Canada, an 8000 employee, $600 million revenue L.B.O.
Mr. Blyskal was responsible for all operating quality and productivity initiatives and the corporate staff functions. With the sale of Purolator, Mr. Blyskal joined Medco Health Solutions, rising to EVP Operations & Technology, as well as President of Medco Pharmacies and Paid Prescriptions Divisions. He was also Enterprise Chairman of all Medco Six Sigma Quality Initiatives. Mr. Blyskal then moved to E-commerce solutions provider GSI Commerce as President and Chief Operating Officer until his retirement. He is now Chairman / Chief Executive Officer of his two Investment vehicles, The Sunset Group and Benchmark Aviation Group LLC. Mr. Blyskal also serves on the Board of Trustees of Cornerstone Christian Academy in Philadelphia, PA and previously on the Board of Trustees of Operation Link-up, an inner-city mentoring organization in Patterson, NJ. Operation Link-up was honored by Reader’s Digest Magazine as an American Hero in Education.
Mel Stein, Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Stein brings over 40 years of Healthcare experience to QuiqMeds. Mr. Stein created and led Mel Stein Medical, a medical equipment business for 13 years, before selling it to Humana. Mr. Stein then held a number of leadership positions at US Healthcare, including Senior Vice President – Sales/Marketing/New Business Development where he had responsibility for national sales and created several new businesses within the company. He was the Founding Partner and Managing Executive, Healthcare Executive Partners, LLC and Executive Vice President – Sales/Marketing/Business Development, I-trax, Inc. an integrated health and productivity management company. Mr. Stein was also a Founder and Director of First County Bank. Mel holds degrees in Biology and Pharmacy from Temple University. Mr. Stein joined QuiqMeds in 2006.
Lawrence Jay Kessel, M.D. has served on our Board of Directors since November 2006. Since 1984, Dr. Kessel has served as President of Lawrence J. Kessel, M.D. & Associates, PC, a physician practice specializing in internal medicine and geriatrics. He completed a formal residency in Internal Medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine with added qualification as a diplomat in Geriatric Medicine. He is an active attending staff and clinical instructor at Chestnut Hill Hospital (University of Pennsylvania affiliate) and Roxborough Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kessel presently serves on the scientific advisory boards of Cypress Biosciences, Inc., NovaDel Pharma Inc., and Dor BioPharma, Inc. He received his B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh and his M.D. from the Temple University School of Medicine. Dr. Kessel is a board reviewer for the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Kessel also serves on the advisory board of Independence Blue Cross and is a clinical assistant professor in the department of medicine at Temple University Medical School.
Walter Witoshkin, Chairman & CEO of QuantRx Biomedical Corporation, a medical technology company with leading edge diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. Mr. Witoshkin has held executive positions in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries including senior financial positions at Wyeth Labs (American Cyanimade), VP Business Development and CFO positions at SmithKline Beecham (now Glaxo SmithKline) and Menley & James Laboratories, Inc. He is a founding partner of the Trident Group, a global consultancy to the pharmaceutical industry.
Leonard S. Jacob, M.D., Ph.D. Dr. Jacob brings over 30 years of medical and pharmaceutical industry experience. During 1997, Dr. Jacob founded InKine Pharmaceutical Company, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company that developed and commercialized gastrointestinal products. He served as Chairman and CEO of InKine from 1997 until the company was acquired by Salix Pharmaceuticals in September 2005. In 1989, Dr. Jacob co-founded Magainin Pharmaceuticals and served as the company's Chief Operating Officer until 1996. From 1980 to 1989, Dr. Jacob served as Worldwide Vice President of SmithKline Beecham Corp. (now Glaxo-SmithKline). Dr. Jacob earned a Ph.D. in pharmacology from Temple University in 1975 and an M.D. from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine). Dr. Jacob currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Colon Cancer Alliance and the Board of Overseers for Temple University School of Medicine. In addition Dr. Jacob is the founding Director of the Jacob Internet Fund, a public mutual fund, as well as MacroMed, Inc. and Glyconix Corp., both private drug delivery companies.
Mark Frankel, PhD, Director of System Design and Development, is a founding partner of Healthcare Executive Partners, specializing in high-level healthcare consulting. Clients include Johnson and Johnson, Par Pharmaceuticals, Teva Pharmaceuticals, medical device companies, clinical informatics companies and service organizations. Dr. Frankel is on the editorial board of Biotechnology Healthcare. Dr. Frankel received his Doctoral degree in biochemistry from Thomas Jefferson University, and spent 12 years in medical research, specializing in Viral Immunology and Multiple Sclerosis at the Wistar Institute, part of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Frankel also has extensive business experience having been Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing of an international manufacturing/distribution business. Dr. Frankel was part of the original founders group in 2004.
James Judd, MD, Chief Medical Officer, is Managing Partner of Hatboro Medical Associates, one of the region’s largest primary care practices, and has been prescribing and dispensing in his office for 7 years. Dr. Judd is also a Clinical Instructor at Temple University, serves on the medical advisory board for a medical practice insurer, and is Board Certified, American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Judd serves as an expert medical witness and principal investigator for clinical research. Dr. Judd was part of QuiqMeds’ original founders group in 2004.
